Surrey Police is appealing for witnesses following a serious road traffic collision on the A23 Brighton Road, Salfords, shortly before 5.45pm on Friday, 24 September.

The collision, which occurred near Salbrook Road, involved a blue Honda Civic and a silver Mini Cooper.

A number of police units and South East Coast Ambulance were deployed to the scene.

A pregnant lady was travelling in the Honda and received roadside medical help from an off-duty lady GP who was jogging past the scene. Officers are keen to trace this jogger and any motorists travelling along the A23 at the time of the collision as they may have vital information.

The lady was taken to East Surrey Hospital where tragically she lost the baby over the weekend.

Her husband, who wishes to remain anonymous, said: “We would welcome any information at all which may help us understand more clearly how this collision occurred. I appeal to the lady jogger, and anyone else who was on the A23 on Friday night, to contact Surrey Police.”

The driver of the Mini was not injured.
