Information on local events to mark Her Majesty the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee

June 2012 marks the historic achievement of Her Majesty the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.

We want to encourage local residents to come together and celebrate over the extended bank holiday weekend of 2 to 5 June.

Organise your street party with our help

We hope that the celebrations will bring out a real sense of local community spirit and we would like to help people organise their festivities across the borough.

If you are planning a street party, we want to help you ensure it goes well. You can find lots of useful information on our Organising a street party page, including how to apply for road closures and how we can help to publicise it.

Local Jubilee events

If you are not organising your own party, then come and celebrate at a local event:

Floral displays

As well as events to mark this milestone, look out for our summer floral bedding displays in red, white and blue across the borough.

Come together

Councillor Roger Newstead, Executive Member for Prosperous Borough, said:

“This is a brilliant opportunity for communities and local people to come together. We are liaising with businesses to ensure that our area is decorated with union jacks and bunting.”
