We have had a number of burglaries in the area in the last couple of weeks:
- Carlton Road
- Carlton Green
- London Road
- Dennis Close
- Ladbroke Road
We have extra staff working, patrolling and investigating the crimes. Reigate and Banstead Neighbourhood Inspector Angie Austin said:
“Being the victim of a burglary can be incredibly distressing and is an offence we take extremely seriously.
“I would like to reassure the public we are doing all we can to bring the offenders to justice.
“We have increased the number of patrols and resources we have to investigate these crimes and we have a number of enquiries underway as a result of some recent arrests for burglary related offences.
“We are also visiting residents to offer crime prevention advice. The message we need to make clear is that if you see anything suspicious call us immediately. The quicker we know of a crime, the quicker we can act.”
Recent related arrests occurred on Tuesday, 17 February in How Lane, Coulsdon, when officers on proactive burglary patrol in the area stopped a vehicle which contained a quantity of cash and a variety of tools. Two men - 30 years-old and 27-years-old were arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit burglary and are on bail until 16 April pending further enquiries.
Inspector Austin is encouraging the community to look at their home security and to keep an eye out for any suspicious activity:
“There are a number of simple steps you can take to protect yourself and your property – always check that your windows and doors are closed and locked, fit an alarm or use security lights.
“If you keep jewellery in your home take photographs of it, and I would strongly advise you to register valuable propertywww.imobilise.com or keep an inventory or description of things so if it is stolen we can help reunite them with you.”
If anyone has any information or saw anything suspicious relating to the offence they should contact Surrey Police on 101, or report it online at www.surrey.police.uk quoting Operation Trabzon.
Alternatively you can report it anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
Please be mindful of your security, if you see anything or any one suspicious report it by calling 101, or 999 if it is an emergency.
